Description

Whether you do the whole circuit or just part, there is plenty in Bramley to keep a young family entertained for a few hours as a break from city living. A mere hop, skip and a jump from the station is the village playing field, a great space to let off steam or watch the local juniors play a game of football. If energy still abounds there is an attractive, new, wooden playground behind the hall to explore. For slightly older children, and if you brought a ball, there is a basketball court too. The definition of ‘older children’ can of course be stretched to include adults! If you choose the longer route, you can enjoy feeling out on the edge of the countryside, whereas the shorter route loops back via yet another new park and pond. The choice is yours.

Walk Instructions

  1. From the station walk in the direction of the Bramley Inn. Cross over to the playing field and walk along the path parallel to the main road. The path bends right behind the hall, passes a small playground, and into a car park before reaching the road. Cross over and walk up the road on the pavement.
  2. Your short and long route options start at the National Grid sign. For the slightly longer walk turn left and walk along the lane. Just before the end there is a footpath off left. This is not tarmac but it has a compact surface and is sheltered from extremes of weather so not muddy in winter. Go as far down here as the surface allows with your particular pushchair.
  3. Eventually you will reach a wider, rutted track beside a field with large potholes. At this point it will probably be wise to turn back and retrace your footsteps back to the earlier National Grid sign.
  4. Option 2 (shorter route) from the National Grid sign is to cross back over the road and to take the signed foot and cycle path to the right. Follow this to the end of the field. Turn left over the bridge and head towards the edge of the housing estate. Before you reach the houses there is another park on the right.
  5. At the houses, depending on your pushchair/child, you can either continue along the grass on the right towards the path ahead or follow the road/pavement straight ahead and then circle around to the right behind the houses to reach the same point by tarmac.
  6. Continue along the path to reach the recreation ground and Bramley Inn. Cross the road and turn left to reach the station.
